Yvla Earrings
Yvla is derived from old Norse, meaning ‘She-Wolf’. These Yvla earrings feature two real vertebrae from a Red Fox, entombed within layers of copper and nickel through a process of electroforming. Each earring is adorned with a Labradorite crystal with a brilliant green/blue flash. Each vertebrae is sourced from the remains same Red Fox, and so each one is slightly different in shape and size. All bones have been collected ethically.
Foxes are cunning creatures who hold symbolic significance in many cultures. According to Celtic folklore, the Fox is a messenger to the Otherworld, a clever shapeshifter, a guide between realms. Folklore also tells of wise women who were said to transform themselves into foxes, connecting foxes to witchcraft and the wild feminine.
The earrings feature sterling silver earring hooks. All electroformed surfaces are coated with a clear sealant to prevent tarnishing and oxidisation.
Measurements:
Dimensions: 6m length x 4cm width at widest point
Weight: 11g per earring
